If you have older children, our children’s ministry department offers a summer program entitled Camp Grapevine for school-aged students.  You can find information regarding that program at the following link:  http://www.fbcgrapevine.com/groups/children/camp-grapevine/

The purpose of The Learning Tree Christian Preschool is to extend the ministry of First Baptist Church by providing loving care and education so that each child can develop to his/her greatest potential: spiritually, mentally, physically, emotionally, and socially. Our preschool was established in 1984. We are licensed by the State of Texas and follow the Minimum Standards for Childcare Centers. Our entire staff is trained in both first aid and CPR.

Our program utilizes the WEE Learn curriculum. This curriculum is based on Biblical principles with an emphasis on learning through play using hands on experiences. We also have a weekly chapel and music time.

Enrollment
Enrollment is open to children age 6 months (as of Sept. 1st of the current enrollment year) through 5 years old with the exception of the summer program.  Children enrolled in the summer program must have been 6 months old as of the previous September 1st.  During the school year, children in the infant class may attend one or two days a week on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Toddlers and twos attend school two days a week on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Threes and fours have an option of attending school two days a week (Mondays/Wednesdays or Tuesdays/Thursdays) or four days a week (Monday through Thursday). Our school hours are 9:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.  We also offer an extended day program on Tuesdays and Thursdays until 3:30 p.m. for an additional fee.  Our summer program hours are 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Calendar
Our program follows the GCISD calendar. Because our program is open four days a week, we will occasionally have to take off an extra Tuesday or Thursday here and there to compensate for the Monday holidays and teacher workdays that the school district recognizes. This way everyone ends up with an equal amount of days at the end of the school year.

Special Days
Throughout the school year, we have several special activities. In September, we have a "Fall into Friendship" picnic. In October, we have a pumpkin patch.  In November, we have Thanksgiving feasts. Our Christmas program is in December. January is the time we celebrate "Winter Fun Days." The threes and fours walk to the mailbox on Main St. to mail Valentine's cards in February. Easter parties and egg hunts are in March or April. Our four-year-old Mother's Tea is held in the spring. Our spring programs and our four-year-old graduation ceremony take place in May. So, as you can see, we have lots of fun all year long!

Rest Time
Because we are licensed by the State of Texas, all children are required to have a rest time each day. Parents provide a nap mat and blanket. Children do not have to go to sleep, but they must rest quietly.  During the summer, the twos and under will have a rest time.  But, the threes and fours will not.
